Introducing Uskees
Uskees is a UK-based clothing brand with a mission to encourage people to develop a stronger and longer-lasting relationship with their garments.
The pieces they offer are colourful, inspired by workwear, and, most importantly, built with durability and comfort in mind.
This Manchester clothing brand is defying fast fashion by promoting environmentally friendly practices in the industry.
While sustainability has become a buzzword in the fashion industry, Uskees is taking a stance by implementing concrete actions.
Sustainability in action
In an industry accounting for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions, Uskees is demonstrating how fashion brands can reduce their environmental impact through:
Materials: To prolong the longevity of its clothes, it favours materials such as certified organic cotton, which is free from pesticides and chemicals. Its buttons are also made from corozo, a durable and plant-based alternative to plastic.
Repairs: If garments are damaged, Uskees provides free repair services to its customers to extend the lifetime of the clothes they sell. This also minimises the amount of clothes that end up in landfills every year.
Shipping: Carbon-neutral shipping is offered to customers, financing carbon removal projects such as reforestation and soil carbon sequestration. By leveraging Shopify Planet, customers can choose to contribute to these projects.
Education: On its Wash Care Labels, Uskees shares tips with customers on how to care for clothes, reduce emissions when washing them, and save money in the process. These tips are good for the planet, your wallet, and your clothes, as they will be more durable.
Packaging is also a key part of a company’s branding, and fashion customers are aware of the environmental impact of single-use plastics.
Leveraging Kvatt’s circular services
As part of its efforts to reduce its environmental impact, Uskees has partnered with Kvatt to offer reusable packaging to offer a circular delivery experience to their customers.
Their timeless and built-to-last garments are shipped in Kvatt returnable and reusable bags if customers opt for a £2 “green shipping” option when they checkout.
As all Kvatt packaging comes with a pre-paid return label, customers can return the bags by sealing the packaging and dropping it in their nearest post box.
Customers only need to ensure the package they are dropping is empty, that they have closed the flap and that the original label is covered with the return label.
If clothes need to be exchanged or returned, the Kvatt bag can also be used and sent back to Uskees’ headquarters.
Kvatt is proud to partner with leading brands such as Uskees who are bringing circular options to their customers.
The fashion industry is one of many which can benefit from circular opportunities. Through our packaging, we’re proud to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
