OUR FOUNDERS
GIANFRANCO BÄCHTOLD
Founder & CEO
Raised in Switzerland and graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York, Gianfranco was always fascinated by the role design could play in changing our habits. When he's not focused on building the future of packaging, he enjoys football, running and reading.
ELIE REBOUL
Co-founder
Product designer graduated from Ecal (Switzerland), Elie's experience ranges from designing backpacks in New York to commercialising watches in Switzerland. His passion for nature led him to travel in 59 countries already, where he witnessed the alarming impact of our consuming habits.
THE ROAD SO FAR
THE IDEA BEGINS.
Moving from Switzerland, Elie and Gian arrive in New York and discover the convenience of online shopping with their first order, a darts board delivered in a corrugated box filled with bubble wrap. This was followed by approximately 40 more in the following two months...
THE PROBLEM ESCALATES,
After having ordered all his Christmas presents online, Gian finds their apartment’s small living room covered in cardboard, plastic and foams. That’s when he realised that something needed to change and started studying the impact of packaging waste.
ACTION IS TAKEN,
Gian decides to be the change and takes action to start the design process and incorporates Kvatt as a packaging company making reusable solutions to eliminate waste from the parcel shipping industry.
THE TEAM IS FORMED.
Elie joins Gian in Kvatt and takes his role of head of product design.
THE REVOLUTION BEGINS.
The first batch of kvatt reusable packaging for refurbished phones is manufactured professionally and the reusable packaging for artworks follows shortly.
THE COMMUNITY STARTS.
Kvatt releases its first newsletter and starts growing not only a customer community, but a community of people passionate about changing the face of the packaging industry and taking part in the reusable revolution!
FAILURE IS LEARNING,
The first kvatt packaging is returned in a cardboard box...
